Quiet and Still
Poem
Quiet and Still
Quiet and still, she hangs in wait,
Ready to serve, to stand at the gate.
On every shore, she has shown her colors,
Quiet and still, she hangs in wait, Ready to serve, to stand at the gate. On every shore, she has shown her colors, Bold and strong for her fallen brothers. Although each of us must go someday, My prayer is that we proudly stay— Upright and strong, ready to fight For our great country with all our might. God bless those who have paid the price, Who gave their lives and thought not twice. For greater love has no man than this: To lay down his life for his friends. Even the Almighty knew how important it was To honor those she truly loves. So quiet and still, she stands above, To honor those she truly loves Scott Stewart September 11, 2026 Written after attending the funeral of George Gilbert Smith at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
